Vattenfall grants production order for 140 composite monopile covers
Vattenfall has granted Theuws Polyester the production order for 140 monopile covers for offshore wind farm Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ). Theuws will work closely together with CCM (Composite Cover Manufacturing) on this project.
The design of these monopile covers is innovative, sustainable and cost-saving. The construction consists of different fiber reinforced polyester panels which are connected to each other with metal strips and bolted together. The panels can be reused and adapted to other diameter monopiles for different offshore windfarms. It is a new and true circular concept whereby panels are not recycled but actually reused.
Theuws will take care of the production and assembly of the monopiles covers. CCM will render all services on site and handle the communication during the supply of the 140 units and also take back all panels in order to reuse them on other projects. The first 40 covers are planned for 2021 and the following 100 for 2022.
